I’d like to share that I found the Dough Hook that works together with this accessory bowl and the KitchenAid 600 professional lift mixer. For convenience, the hook can also be purchased. Or, search Amazon for ‘Stainless Steel Spiral Dough Hook Replacement for KitchenAid 4.5-5 Qt’ by manufacturer ABTER. Please don't be fooled by the 4-5 qt mention, because I tried the smaller 3qrt I thought would work and it was too small. This ABTER hook works perfectly for this bowl and mixer combo, or any hook that is exactly the following dimensions: 5.7 inches top to bottom and 3-1/4 inches at the widest point. Any dims more or less than this will not work. Too long will drag on the bottom. Too short won’t move the dough as it should. Same goes for the width. We wore out the old KitchenAid Artisan tilt-head mixer and got a new 'bowl lift' mixer to replace it. At first, I was disappointed that the bowl is kinda big for making small batches. This smaller bowl only works with the 'combi-whip', but it's better than ever for whipping meringue or cream and it also works fine for batter and cookie dough. The big bowl and curvy dough hook are the best I've ever had for stiff bread and pizza dough that beat up the tilt-head. This little one is the best for cakes and cookies.

I haven’t actually used this yet but am excited to. It has the expected look, quality and feel you are used to out of Kitchenaid. It fits on my 6 quart pro great but not on my 20 year old 5 quart. It’s probably some of the newer 5 quart mixers that it fits. I think it will be great for meringue. I didn’t even realize they made this until I saw it as part of a set that was advertised somewhere. Then I went looking for it as a stand alone purchase and found it.

I usually don’t write reviews although I always read them before buying so I thought I would share a review myself for a change. My daughter and I make cookies with Royal Icing. I’ve always made icing in the big 6 qt bole that came with my Kitchen Aid mixer. Boy am I glad I found this smaller bowl and whisk that is made just for things like icing or whipped cream. It is fabulous. If you are hesitating I’m guessing it is because of the price. But in ease and time savings alone this bowl is worth it. LOVE IT.

Many thanks to Yi Y., who pointed out this very useful (to me) fact in the Q&A section regarding this product. It's not a perfect fit, mine would contact the bowl lightly in 3-4 places per revolution. But it's close enough to bend it to fit. (I just compressed mine in a vise about 1/8th" and now it fits perfectly.) Alternatively, I could have just lowered the bowl lift adjustment 1/4", but it was already set at max height to suit the 6-qt bowl, and I didn't want to pull out a screwdriver every time I changed bowls. Anyway, it's a quality bowl and whip, and a suitable dough hook can be had with minimal expense and adjustment.

This is perfect for smaller recipes and makes digging into the bowl easier since it isn't so deep. The whip that comes with it is not just a wire whip, as it also has one strip of a wider metal, so it's more 75% whip and 25% beater. I think it's because it's the only one that will fit inside this bowl and can be used for all sorts of things, except for stiff mixes and doughs (you'd want your dough hook and big bowl for that). It does have multiple holes and two sides with different back "clips" so it will fit several models of bowl-lift mixers, but don't ask me for which ones. When I put this on mine, it clips strongly and to remove it is a bit tricky since there is no handle like the original bowl. I've found I can push in my mixer clip on the back slightly while lifting one side of the bowl out of the pin and can get it out easier without spilling. This gets easier to do, so try it a few times while empty before actually using it or you might end up spilling. BTW, this fits my KP26M9X (Costco 2017 model of 6-qt Kitchenaid lift bowl mixer, which is not listed in many "fits these models" lists). I mention this because this is the SAME as the Kitchenaid KP26M1X available most everywhere (difference is only in the motor wattage).

This is just perfect for a smaller batch of something. I've made small batches in my big KA bowl, and haven't always had good luck with the mixing because there just isn't enough of whatever I'm mixing for the beaters to work efficiently. This solves that problem. I particularly like the fact that the beater that comes with the bowl is sort of a combination whisk and beater. It looks like a whisk, but it's actually made of narrow strips of metal, not wire, so I feel that this could easily work a batch of something stiff (e.g. cookie dough) that I wouldn't be comfortable using the wire whisk attachment for. This is a great addition to the collection of accessories for my KA.
